Microinjections into cells with a "hard" cell wall or into elastic cell membranes that give way to the injection capillary prove to be very difficult with conventional micromanipulators. For this reason, Märzhäuser has developed piezo-electronic micromanipulators that are extremely efficient accessories for these application cases on account of their very high penetration speed and their precise axial forward motion.
A retreating movement that is separate from the forward speed enables fast pull-out of the capillary and therefore prevents an adhesion of penetrated cells to the capillary spike.
According to design, the model types PM 20, PM 10 and PM 10-1 can be adapted on motorized micromanipulators. All micromanipulators of the PM series are extremely efficient units for intracellular injection at a unique cost / performance ratio.
